DoScript brings the ability to:
- trigger a script on entering a field
- trigger a script on exiting a field
- trigger a script when committing a record
- trigger a script on layout refresh
- trigger a script using a timer
- trigger a script based on FileMaker’s Idle mode

Troi File Plugin is the big daddy of File Manipulation plugins! The cross platform plugin contains over 50 functions for working with files, folders, image metadata and performing shell commands. When you ask most people about a FileMaker plugin to move files for example, I imagine a lot of FileMaker developers would mention Troi’s plugin.
It has now been rewritten from scratch to support the new FileMaker 7+ Plugin API so you can have the full power of mounting drives, subtituting text in files and more!
All this and they even have a trial download where you can use the sample file to see exactly what it can do and see if it suits your needs before buying. Licences start from $79 for a single user.

EventScript is a great little plugin by Softwares for Humans which does one thing, but it does it great! Script scheduling and triggering from calculation fields. From the developer’s website: It’s the missing link between calculations and ‘perform script’.
I’m sure many people would agree it’s something that maybe FileMaker should of integrated as a default feature by now, but as long as there are plugins like EventScript then it doesn’t matter!
You can use the plugin to run scripts before a field is entered or when a user leaves a field and even run scripts on mouse-over in FileMaker 8+ thanks to the new tooltip features!
This is definitely a great plugin and I’ve found a great use it a few times now and to make things even better its totally free! The developers does ask for donations if you’ve found the plugin useful and who can argue with that!
